The Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria has committed to enhancing data collection efforts

Olajide Boladuro, the Vice Chairman of the FSGRN, shared this information with NEWS9 during the recent Africa Gaming Expo regulatory briefing held in Lagos. Boladuro, who also serves as the Director-General of the Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board, emphasized that the FSGRN, which unites state gaming regulators, is dedicated to fostering a well-regulated and harmonized industry. "We prioritize data collection to ensure that individuals' information is not improperly exposed," he remarked. To facilitate this initiative, the federation is collaborating with various government bodies, including the National Communications Commission and the National Information Technology Development Agency. "We will be formalizing agreements with these agencies," Boladuro noted.

He reiterated the federation's mandate to oversee gaming operations across different states, stating, "We are the designated authority for regulation as per government directives." The vice chairman indicated that gaming operators are required to register with the FSGRN in addition to the relevant state agencies. "We want to inform operators that if they intend to engage in gambling or betting activities, they must register with the Federation of State Gaming Regulators of Nigeria," he stated, highlighting the agency's role in standardizing gaming licenses. Operators have pointed out the various licenses issued by different states as a significant obstacle within the gaming industry. "We are implementing a unified licensing system. Therefore, once a license is obtained through the federation, operators will be permitted to operate in the states where we are established," Boladuro clarified, assuring that new measures will be introduced in the upcoming weeks.
