Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that he will disclose his preferred successor in January 2026
This information was shared on Monday during the 11th Omituntun Ramadan lecture, which took place at the government house arcade in Ibadan.
The lecture, entitled ‘Benefits of Being a Good Neighbour: An Islamic Perspective,’ was presented by Yunus Teliat, the grand chief Imam of Ogbomoland.
In his address, delivered in Yoruba, Makinde expressed gratitude to Muslim leaders for their support of his administration and encouraged them to continue their prayers for his government.
In a light-hearted moment, he addressed Abbas Oloko, a well-known socialite, requesting that he refrain from removing his billboard at Isale Alfa.
“I am not yet a lame duck. Please keep my billboard at Isale Alfa.
“As we approach January 2026, political activities will commence. I will reveal the identity of the individual who will take my place,” Makinde stated.
The governor also urged Muslims to utilize the Ramadan period to foster peace and unity within society, irrespective of religious differences.
