Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has instructed all four emirates to begin preparations for the Sallah Durbar Celebration
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has instructed all four emirates to begin preparations for the Sallah Durbar Celebration, ensuring that both residents and visitors can fully enjoy the festive season. Additionally, the governor announced that the inauguration of the Kano State Emirate Council is scheduled for April this year, which will enhance its operational effectiveness. This information was shared in a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, on Wednesday.
The directive was issued during a Ramadan breakfast meeting with the Emirs, which took place in the Ante Chamber of the Government House in Kano on Tuesday. Governor Yusuf highlighted the community's anticipation for the tradition of donning new attire on Sallah Day, gathering along the streets to witness their Emirs on horseback, and exchanging greetings. “My administration is committed to ensuring that no adversaries can strip citizens of this valued tradition,” Yusuf stated.
He assured the public that all security agencies in the state would be mobilized to guarantee the safety of individuals during the celebration. Furthermore, Yusuf indicated that the council’s guidelines, ethical standards, and other essential elements would be shared on the day of the inauguration.
He praised the Emirs for their maturity and the positive rapport they have established since their appointments, noting that this is the first instance in the state’s history where there is such profound respect among the Emirs, especially regarding hierarchy. In response, the Chairman of the Kano Emirate Council, Muhammadu Sanusi II, confirmed the strong relationship between him and the other Emirs.
